“There was a time when men were kind
When their voices were soft
And their words inviting
There was a time when love was blind
And the world was a song
And the song was exciting
There was a time
Then it all went wrong” -
Liz Lemon and I want the same thing in a man. Just replace “Lost” with “30 Rock” or “SVU”.
“I want someone who will be monogamous and nice to his mother. And I want someone who likes musicals, but knows to just shut his mouth when I’m watching Lost. And I want someone who thinks being really into cars is lame and strip clubs are gross. I want someone who will actually empty the dishwasher instead of just taking out forks, as needed, like I do. I want someone with clean hands and feet and beefy forearms like a damn Disney prince. And I want him to genuinely like me even when I’m old. And that’s what I want.”

One April 8th I will be participating in a day without shoes. The whole day, wherever I go, I’ll be without shoes. The idea behind it is to see what people in other countries go through each day simply because they don’t have the money to buy shoes. People will be gathering together on this day to do a barefoot walk and I will be participating in the walk at KSU.
This day is sponsored by TOMS shoes. If you’re not familiar with the company, for every shoe you buy from them, they give one to a child in need. The day is meant to bring awareness to what a day is like for these kids. So join me on April 8th! Even if you don’t own a pair of TOMS, perhaps the day will inspire you to buy a pair, or you may inspire someone else to. For more information on the walk, check out http://www.onedaywithoutshoes.com/. Come out and have fun with your friends and make some new ones while promoting a good cause.
Facts:
1. In some developing nations, children must walk for miles to school, clean water and to seek medical help.
2. Cuts and sores on feet can lead to serious infection.
3. Often, children cannot attend school barefoot.
4. In Ethiopia, approximately one million people are suffering from Podoconiosis, a debilitating and disfiguring disease caused by walking barefoot in volcanic soil.
5. Podoconiosis is 100% preventable with basic foot hygiene and wearing shoes.
